---
BASIC FUNCTIONS OF AQUA STARTER
1. Automatic Pump ON/OFF
Aqua Starter automatically starts and stops the pump according to the configured sensor and water-level conditions.
This reduces the need to manually switch the pump ON and OFF.
2. Automatic Water Transfer
The controller automates the transfer of water from a source—such as a supply pipeline, reservoir, borewell or open well—to an overhead delivery tank.
3. Tank Overflow Prevention
When the appropriate tank-level sensors are installed, Aqua Starter stops the pump when the delivery tank reaches the required full level.
This helps reduce water wastage caused by unattended pumping.
4. Dry-Run Protection
Aqua Starter helps prevent the pump from operating when adequate source water is unavailable.
This can help protect the pump and motor from damage associated with dry running.
5. Airlock Protection
The controller is designed to help manage pump operation in situations where airlock may occur, depending on the pump and installation arrangement.
6. Contactless Supply-Water Detection
The Supply Water Controller version uses the NextGen Contactless Pipeline Sensor, which is installed externally on a compatible non-metallic pipeline.
The sensor detects water availability without direct contact with the water.
7. Fail-Safe Sensor-Wire Protection
The FBSWD feature is designed to stop the pump if the relevant sensor connection becomes disconnected, providing an additional safety measure.
8. Simple Status Indication
Aqua Starter models can provide easy-to-understand LED indications for operating conditions such as:
- F — Delivery Tank Full
- L — Delivery Tank Low
- H — Reservoir / Supply High
- E — Reservoir / Supply Empty
The exact indications and functions depend on the model and configuration.

THREE TYPES OF AQUA STARTER
Aqua Starter can be broadly configured in three main types, according to the type of water source and pump installation:
TYPE 1 — SUPPLY WATER CONTROLLER
For Direct Mains / Urban Supply Water
TYPE 2 — MONOBLOC CONTROLLER
For Conventional Surface / Monobloc Pumps
TYPE 3 — SUBMERSIBLE CONTROLLER
For Borewell / Open-Well Submersible Pumps
The most important difference is where the water comes from and where the pump is installed.
---
TYPE 1 — AQUA STARTER SUPPLY WATER CONTROLLER
For Direct Mains / Urban Supply Water
The Supply Water Controller is designed for situations where water arrives through a direct mains or urban supply pipeline and the user wants to automatically pump that water into a delivery tank.
Typical Application
Direct Mains / Supply Pipeline → Pump → Delivery Tank / OHT
How It Works
The NextGen Contactless Pipeline Sensor is clamped externally around a compatible non-metallic supply pipeline.
When supply water becomes available, the sensor detects it and sends a signal to the controller.
The Aqua Starter then:
Supply Arrives → Sensor Detects Water → Pump ON
When the supply stops, or when the delivery tank reaches its configured full condition:
Supply Stops / Tank Full → Pump OFF
This makes it particularly useful for irregular or inconvenient supply schedules.
Installation Method
1. Install Aqua Starter near the pump/electrical connection point.
2. Clamp the NextGen Contactless Pipeline Sensor externally onto the compatible supply pipeline.
3. Connect the sensor wiring to the controller.
4. Connect the controller to the pump according to the specified electrical arrangement.
5. Install the required delivery-tank level sensing arrangement.
6. Configure and test the system.
Typical Uses
- Individual houses
- Apartments
- Small buildings
- Urban/direct mains supply systems
- Supply-water pumping installations
Best Choice When:
The water source is a supply pipeline and the pump needs to operate automatically when supply water becomes available.

TYPE 2 — AQUA STARTER MONOBLOC CONTROLLER
For Conventional Surface / Monobloc Pumps
The Monobloc Controller is designed for single-phase Monobloc or surface water pumps installed outside the water source.
It is used to lift stored water from an underground reservoir, storage tank or similar source to an overhead delivery tank.
Typical Application
Underground Reservoir → Monobloc Pump → OHT
How It Works
Water is stored in an underground reservoir or source tank.
The Monobloc pump is installed outside the water source.
The Aqua Starter receives signals from the configured water-level sensors and controls the pump automatically.
When water needs to be transferred:
Source Water Available + OHT Requires Water → Pump ON
When the required water level is reached or source water is insufficient:
OHT Full / Source Empty → Pump OFF
Installation Method
1. Install the Aqua Starter controller near the Monobloc pump.
2. Install the appropriate source/reservoir level sensor.
3. Install the required delivery-tank/OHT level sensor.
4. Connect the sensors to the controller.
5. Connect the controller to the single-phase Monobloc/DOL-type pump arrangement.
6. Test automatic ON/OFF operation and protection functions.
Typical Uses
- Houses
- Flats and apartments
- Small buildings
- Shops and offices
- Farms
- Underground reservoir-to-OHT systems
Best Choice When:
A conventional surface/Monobloc pump is installed outside the water source and is used to lift stored water to an OHT.
---
TYPE 3 — AQUA STARTER SUBMERSIBLE CONTROLLER
For Borewell & Open-Well Submersible Pumps
The Submersible Controller is designed for submersible water pumps installed inside borewells, open wells or underground water sources.
It automatically manages pumping from the underground source to an overhead delivery tank.
Typical Application
Borewell / Open Well → Submersible Pump → OHT
How It Works
The submersible pump is installed inside the borewell or open well.
The Aqua Starter receives the required water-level/control signals and operates the submersible pump automatically.
When the OHT requires water and adequate source water is available:
OHT Requires Water + Source Available → Submersible Pump ON
When the OHT is full or source water becomes insufficient:
OHT Full / Source Condition → Pump OFF
The controller also provides protection functions such as dry-run and airlock protection, according to the specific installation and controller configuration.
Installation Method
1. Install the controller/starter arrangement at the appropriate electrical location outside the borewell/open well.
2. Install the required source-water sensing arrangement.
3. Install the appropriate OHT level sensors.
4. Connect the sensors to the controller.
5. Connect the controller to the submersible pump/starter arrangement.
6. Test automatic operation and protection functions.
Typical Uses
- Borewell pumping
- Open-well pumping
- Individual houses
- Apartments
- Farms
- Agricultural water systems
- Small commercial buildings
Best Choice When:
The pump itself is installed inside a borewell or open well and water needs to be automatically pumped to an OHT.
